A few words about the history of Taping

McConnell
In the 1980s, Australian manual physiotherapist Jenny McConnell introduced fixed taping to orthopedic chiropractic physiotherapy. McConnell tape applications are combined with the evaluation and management principles of neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy and are supported by research data.
Also in the 1980s, Japanese chiropractor and applied kinesiologist Kenzo Kase developed colored elastic adhesive bandages for immediate application to the skin.

The tape mimics the characteristics of the skin protecting the flow under the bandage.
The application of elastic tape according to the applied kinesiologist Kase became known as Kinesio Taping. Characteristic was the appearance at events such as the Sydney Olympics in 2000 as well as the FIFA World Cup in 2002 in Korea & Japan. Meanwhile, colored tape is recognized almost daily on television sports programs internationally and live on sports fields as the elastic tape can be used in a wide variety of indications.

Dutch orthopedic chiropractic physiotherapist John Langendoen was introduced to the elastic tape while working for the Korea National Football Team at the Korea / Japan Soccer World Cup in 2002 and who used a fixed non-elastic tape at Jenny Mc for years.
However, he was only at the FIFA World Cup in 2006 where together with a team of colleagues and doctors they developed a theory of application of elastic tape – Kinematic Taping, or simply KT, according to the principles of neuromusculoskeletal / orthopedic chiropractic physiotherapy.

In general, Kinematic Taping applications do not replace passive techniques or active training, however they are additionally used to enhance the effect of effective treatment. The CB is an integral part of overall management and therefore the positive impact of implementation can be predicted: “success is in planning
Since 2006, the application of elastic adhesive bandages, in line with the principles of western sports medicine / physiotherapy and orthopedic chiropractic / medicine, has evolved into a conceptual approach to functional taping with elastic tape, known as Concept by John Tap .
The speakers of Kinematic Taping are clinicians with an academic background: in all the seminars all your questions will be answered.

Features of Kinematic Taping Theory:

  • based on evaluation

  • with neuromusculoskeletal contents

  • specific to each malfunction

  • patient-centered

  • supported by scientific evidence

  • high academic level

Definition:
Kinematic Taping is a complementary therapeutic theory that applies high quality elastic adhesive bandages in an overall management of physical symptoms and movement disorders, based on evaluation, with a patient center and research database and within the realm of real sports medicine and orthopedics. physiotherapy.

Theory of Kinematic Taping Concept:

Kinematic Taping: The dimension of the functional Taping tire.
Compared to the evaluation and management of neural tissue in the 1980s and the evolution of stabilization and motor control models based on scientific data in the 1990s, this 1st decade of the 3rd millennium, neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy is increasingly dominated by of rubber taping.
Clinical developments and early scientific evidence increasingly support the role of taping in the scope of paramedical management. Lymphatic tape, meridian taping, cross taping are examples of this development, especially in the Netherlands and Germany.
Hand Therapy / Orthopedic Chiropractic Therapy (OMT) benefits greatly from tape applications: faster, better and longer lasting results.

Kinematic Taping, a huge leap in the functional tire, shows how much the special rubber taping has evolved and can be integrated into the OMT.
Neuromusculoskeletal disorders typically show negative interactions between joints, muscles, nerve structures, and associated vertebral bodies. Initial positions for a specific structure and related to the evaluation and objectives for the predominantly involved structures are, in analogy to the evaluation and treatment techniques at OMT, the main features of Kinematic Taping.

The theory provides a rationale and clear guidelines for the additional management of neuromusculoskeletal disorders that conform to all medical models:

International Classification of Function, Disability and Health (International Classification of Function, Disability and Health-ICF for WHO 2001),
Biopsychosocial models of health and pathology
Guidelines for the training of the International Federation of Orthopedic Physical Therapy (IFOMPT) as described in the Rules document (IFOMPT 2008)
The main standards of Kinematic Taping are an advanced level of Clinical Reasoning in the analysis of motor dysfunctions and in the decision to select and execute management strategies.
In addition to the application of tape for local symptoms, a key feature of Kinematic Taping is the enhancement of the effect of passive techniques and / or therapeutic training with taping applications that address the immediate cause of the problem.
Additional features are the consistent re-evaluation of the most relevant and specific functional tests, inclusion of research data for tape applications, as well as logical reasoning for therapeutic and neurophysiological and / or industrial explanations.

Kinematic Taping uses the Principles of Applied Kinesiology, therefore applies the principles of examination and treatment of orthopedic chiropractic physiotherapy with an advanced level of clinical reasoning:
Principle of 5′T – Extensive learning contents
 1) Think – Success of clinical reasoning programs
 2) Examine (Test) – The tests related to the most relevant problem
 3) Treat – Specific techniques and exercises
 4) Application (Tape) – Applications in proportion to the treatment
 5) Train – Exercises according to the applications

Time Schedule

In this two-day seminar, Kinematic Taping applications for the upper torso are developed. Chest dysfunctions, static corrections, correction of shoulder mobility patterns, neck disorders and pain, and upper limb problems. They range from basic techniques to complex corrections all based on clinical reasoning and the evaluation of Manual Therapy.

Testimonials

EPIMORFOSIS organizes specialization seminars for rehabilitation professionals. I’ve watched a lot. I strongly recommend you trust EPIMORFOSIS for your specialization and lifelong information.

- Alexandros Karagiannidis -

Training, a steady value for more than twenty years now, leads physiotherapy and keeps it at a very high level, well done to George Karambalis and his associates, we owe a lot to all of you.

- Philip Tzimoulis -

The best physiotherapists training institution. It enables the development of the necessary knowledge for clinical reasoning. High-quality training without having to travel abroad.

- Tsoukalas Kotsiris Georgios -

My first steps in professional specialization started with EPIMORFOSIS and continue. It has been with us all these years, covering the need for modern and documented knowledge, in collaboration with internationally acclaimed educational institutions.

- Kostas Poulis -

I have known George Karampalis and EPIMORFOSIS for many years. I’ve had the opportunity to join several clinical courses and I can argue that, at the level of organisation and selection of trainers, they have a high level of recognised prestige.

- Georgia Petta -

EPIMORFOSIS justifies its name by providing high quality courses. George Karampalis operates more like a constant “trainee” and less like an entrepreneur, and this is an additional positive fact in the effort that is put by the workers and teachers of EPIMORFOSIS.

- Dimitris Stamoulis -
