Course Details

Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT) is a holistic, hands-on healing approach that combines various gentle techniques to address pain and dysfunction by treating the body’s interconnected systems (muscles, nerves, fascia, organs, etc.) to restore overall function, based on the idea that the body can heal itself.

The IMT (Integrative Manual Therapy) method includes five modules:

MODULE I: Foundation Course – Fascial Fulcra & Fascia Mapping
MODULE II: Osteoarticular System I – Spine, Pelvis, Sacrum
MODULE III: Osteoarticular System 2 – Extremities and Rib Cage
MODULE IV: Lymphatic System
MODULE V: Neurovascular System

We offer the Foundation course (Module I) – Foundation Course – Fascial Fulcra & Fascia Mapping as a stand-alone and introduction to the rest of the training.
This first module is crucial and the basis upon which the rest of the training is based.
It is a mandatory prerequisite to assist in any subsequent course in the curriculum.
The 4 remaining modules are then presented as 2 “separate” levels, one which offers Modules 2 & 3, the other which offers Modules 4 & 5.
The students will act as “patients”, both for demonstrations and clinical application / practice among each other.

Students will be asked to demonstrate a certain proficiency among the multitude of manual diagnostic (fascial listening) and treatment techniques (fulcrums, positional release, etc) they will learn over the course of the training.
First developed in the United States in the 1970s by Dr. Sharon Weiselfish Giammatteo, Intagrative Manual Therapy (IMT) is a unique and innovate approach that fuses, synthesizes, integrates and expands upon the biomechanical, neurological, circulatory, metabolic, biopsychosocial and motility / biodynamic models of osteopathic manual therapy.

The training program will be taught by Jonathan Ahladas, MSPT, IMTC, an American physiotherapist and direct protégé of Dr. Weiselfish, with more than 25 years of experience.
Τhe complete training consists of a 120-hour program, which is divided into five, 3-day modules.

To allow the student the time for optimal practical integration of the content and material provided, each of the courses will be organized and offered over the span of a calendar year.
This training will offer quite a different approach than those courses based on traditional physiotherapy concepts and classical / structural osteopathy techniques.
Based on more than 40 years of clinical development, the training´s primary objectives are to develop the student´s clinical skills and keen and global sense of touch: Relational Touch (creating a relational field, co-regulation and working at interface), Diagnostic Touch (fascial listening and decoding fascial tensional patterns), and Therapeutic Touch (working with fascial fulcra, lines of force, and different rhythms / motilities).
New concepts of differential diagnosis/fascial listening, and original and proprietary manual techniques will pre presented throughout the training courses.
Based on the Integrative Systems Model, this first level course will engage the fascial system, the osseous and articular systems, the autonomic nervous system, the central and peripheral nervous system, the lymphatic and vascular systems.
The somatoemotional/psychosomatic systems, as well as the cranial and visceral systems, can be offered as future advanced trainings.

Throughout the training, time and emphasis will be placed on developing clinical hand skills, using them as the powerful communicators they are in the therapeutic relationship, tools that perceive and perform, receive and give, as they engage in the bi-directional conversation and reciprocal dance between the therapists hands and the patients system.
As a treatment is only as affective as it’s “diagnosis”, time will be spent on developing keen perpetual and palpation skills, and awareness of subtle phenomenon, such as different body rhythms and tissue motilities, both on the physical and energetic (emotional) planes. By doing so, one will better be able to locate and identify specific tissue restrictions and energetic blockages and discern the relationships between them as they relate to the clinical picture.
The manual treatment techniques taught in the training basically fall into one of two categories: 1) those in which form influences function (fascial fulcrum releases, Type Is, Type IIIs, compression syndromes, multisystem positional releases, all of which are indirect and functional), and 2) those in which function influences form (balancing/regulation of motilities, metabolic field disruptions such as facial microdamage, intraosseous compression and lymphatic stagnation/inflammation, as well as biodynamic blueprints, and autonomic nervous system reflex points)

Upon completing the training, the student will have an overall vision and a significant number of practical, manual diagnostic and treatment tools to carry out a comprehensive treatment tailored for each client.
Useful treatment protocols will be presented, however, the aim of the training is to develop fine-tuned clinical skills, to be able to treat the patient as a whole.

Integrative Manual Therapy is very versatile as it can be used in many clinical specialties, such as: sports medicine, orthopedics and trauma, neurology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, dentistry, as well as for treatment of stress-related disorders and functional imbalances of the ANS, visceral and vascular systems.
Due to the gentle nature of its application, IMT can be applied to any and all patient populations, from a newborn baby to a competitive athlete, to a very fragile elderly person, and can be used as a main tool in clinical practice, being a complete method in and of itself.

Testimonials

Training, a steady value for more than twenty years now, leads physiotherapy and keeps it at a very high level, well done to George Karambalis and his associates, we owe a lot to all of you.

- Philip Tzimoulis -

EPIMORFOSIS organizes specialization seminars for rehabilitation professionals. I’ve watched a lot. I strongly recommend you trust EPIMORFOSIS for your specialization and lifelong information.

- Alexandros Karagiannidis -

EPIMORFOSIS justifies its name by providing high quality courses. George Karampalis operates more like a constant “trainee” and less like an entrepreneur, and this is an additional positive fact in the effort that is put by the workers and teachers of EPIMORFOSIS.

- Dimitris Stamoulis -

I have known George Karampalis and EPIMORFOSIS for many years. I’ve had the opportunity to join several clinical courses and I can argue that, at the level of organisation and selection of trainers, they have a high level of recognised prestige.

- Georgia Petta -

My first steps in professional specialization started with EPIMORFOSIS and continue. It has been with us all these years, covering the need for modern and documented knowledge, in collaboration with internationally acclaimed educational institutions.

- Kostas Poulis -

The best physiotherapists training institution. It enables the development of the necessary knowledge for clinical reasoning. High-quality training without having to travel abroad.

- Tsoukalas Kotsiris Georgios -
