The course is addressed exclusively to physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists who have successfully attended the Basic level of Bobath course.
Course language will be English with simultaneous translation to Greek.
LLLC, EPIMORFOSIS, intends to organize an Advanced level Bobath course for adults with neurological conditions, under the auspices of the International Bobath Instructors Training Association (Ι.Β.Ι.Τ.Α.) with Monica Morelli
The course lasts 5 days and will take place in Athens, on 13- 17 October 2027 with the title :
“Spastic movement disorder: from the literature to the practical application.”
The course fee is 800€.
In order to finalize your registration and ensure a placement to this seminar, a down payment of 300€ must be deposited.
The rest amount of 500€ must be deposited in our bank account or via debit / credit card, at least 2 days prior to the beginning day of the course.
The Bobath concept (advanced course)
The term “Spastic Movement Disorder” is increasingly used in modern clinical neuroscience to describe a group of movement abnormalities related to upper motor neuron lesions (UMNL), particularly in conditions like cerebral palsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis, or spinal cord injury.
Definition of Spastic Movement Disorder (SMD)
Spastic Movement Disorder is a functional disorder of movement caused by damage to the central nervous system (CNS), characterized by:
• Involuntary muscle overactivity, including:
o Spasticity (velocity-dependent increase in muscle tone)
o Clonus (rhythmic contractions)
o Muscle spasms
o Hyperreflexia
• Loss of voluntary motor control (weakness, poor coordination)
• Disordered sensorimotor integration (e.g., abnormal responses to stretch or touch)
During the course we will explore all the features that describe the wide umbrella syptoms of spastic movement disorders and we will discuss some possible approach to deal with teh patients treatments and practical sessions.

Learning aims:
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of how alterations in specific impairments influence a patient’s clinical symptoms and overall functional capacity.
• Develop and apply effective problem-solving techniques tailored for individuals experiencing neurological conditions.
• Assess and refine manual handling techniques, environmental adaptations, and verbal guidance strategies through structured self-reflection.
• Recognize each patient’s rehabilitation potential to help them reach their highest possible level of physical function.
• Utilize scientific evidence and comprehensive movement analysis to guide and optimize therapeutic interventions.
• Measure and analyze patient progress after therapy using standardized and appropriate clinical outcome tools.
• Comprehend the mechanisms of spasticity and movement dysfunction caused by changes or damage within the central nervous system.
• Analyze the relationship between positive and negative clinical symptoms following an upper motor neuron injury.
• Support and advocate for clinical practices grounded in the latest scientific literature regarding upper motor neuron syndrome.
• Grasp the significance and impact of neurologically driven muscle weakness on movement disorders.
• Execute structured clinical reasoning and decision-making processes when treating individuals with neurological conditions.
• Determine the maximum capability of a patient to perform daily functional activities independently.
• Develop proficiency in advanced facilitation methods, including manual techniques, verbal cues, and environmental setups, for neurorehabilitation in adults.

EPIMORFOSIS justifies its name by providing high quality courses. George Karampalis operates more like a constant “trainee” and less like an entrepreneur, and this is an additional positive fact in the effort that is put by the workers and teachers of EPIMORFOSIS.
I have known George Karampalis and EPIMORFOSIS for many years. I’ve had the opportunity to join several clinical courses and I can argue that, at the level of organisation and selection of trainers, they have a high level of recognised prestige.
My first steps in professional specialization started with EPIMORFOSIS and continue. It has been with us all these years, covering the need for modern and documented knowledge, in collaboration with internationally acclaimed educational institutions.
The best physiotherapists training institution. It enables the development of the necessary knowledge for clinical reasoning. High-quality training without having to travel abroad.
Training, a steady value for more than twenty years now, leads physiotherapy and keeps it at a very high level, well done to George Karambalis and his associates, we owe a lot to all of you.
EPIMORFOSIS organizes specialization seminars for rehabilitation professionals. I’ve watched a lot. I strongly recommend you trust EPIMORFOSIS for your specialization and lifelong information.
