Introduction

Development occurs holistically, beyond a medical-centered model.  Humans need to interact with the environment and develop the ability to control it.
The growing body of literature suggests that during the developmental stages of humans, the systems of sensory-motor, psyco-emotional, language and representations of the world and ideas engage in a dynamic interplay.

Theoretical, cognitive and neurosciences confirm the link between mind – body integration (Bοrghi, 2014), illuminating the need for approaching human development in an interdisciplinary manner.
The purpose of this seminar is to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective treatment of children patients through observation and assessment.
The main objective is to offer insights on child’s developmental stages so that they can design an effective, milestone-based  intervention from infant to early school ages.

The seminar covers the most modern developmental theories of neural networks in addition to models of hierarchy, evaluation and assessment of developmental stages, so that participants can develop effectively patient-specific intervention programmes.

In a nutshell, the seminar covers the following areas:

  •  visual-motor development (0 – 6 ages), visual perception and association with learning process as well as vision – body posture

  •  infant motor development (0 – 12 months): interaction with the environment, and reflexes

  • development of social communication and underlying structures

  •  fine motor development (age-related, reach, grasp and release activities and challenges)

  •  sensory skills, activities for improvement of fine motor, examples of developmental disorders impacting motor

  •  up to date, modern, psychodynamic and biological theories (ie. infant research), children developmental milestones, theory of mind, theory of attachment, Stern’s theory, mirror neurons and empathy

  • theories linking developmental models to psychology and neural sciences

  • age-related expression of emotions and effective therapeutic strategies

The aim of the seminar is to offer participants the necessary knowledge and skills required for an effective intervention through observation and assessment of the child.
The main aim, is to understand the areas of development as well as basic principles of evaluation in order to create a treatment plan or intervention based on the developmental milestones of the child from infancy to the first school year.
During the seminar, more modern developmental approaches for the development and operation of neural networks will be analyzed.
Models of hierarchy, assessment and evaluation of developmental stages will also be presented so that the design of the treatment program leads to a more effective intervention in the most appropriate and economical way.

Testimonials

EPIMORFOSIS organizes specialization seminars for rehabilitation professionals. I’ve watched a lot. I strongly recommend you trust EPIMORFOSIS for your specialization and lifelong information.

- Alexandros Karagiannidis -

Training, a steady value for more than twenty years now, leads physiotherapy and keeps it at a very high level, well done to George Karambalis and his associates, we owe a lot to all of you.

- Philip Tzimoulis -

The best physiotherapists training institution. It enables the development of the necessary knowledge for clinical reasoning. High-quality training without having to travel abroad.

- Tsoukalas Kotsiris Georgios -

My first steps in professional specialization started with EPIMORFOSIS and continue. It has been with us all these years, covering the need for modern and documented knowledge, in collaboration with internationally acclaimed educational institutions.

- Kostas Poulis -

I have known George Karampalis and EPIMORFOSIS for many years. I’ve had the opportunity to join several clinical courses and I can argue that, at the level of organisation and selection of trainers, they have a high level of recognised prestige.

- Georgia Petta -

EPIMORFOSIS justifies its name by providing high quality courses. George Karampalis operates more like a constant “trainee” and less like an entrepreneur, and this is an additional positive fact in the effort that is put by the workers and teachers of EPIMORFOSIS.

- Dimitris Stamoulis -
