LLLC1, “epimorfosis”, intends to organize a Respiratory Physiotherapy course on “Airway Clearance Techniques” with Filip Pyl as instructor.

The course lasts 2 days and will take place

in Athens on November, 30 – December, 01 2019

The course fee is 250€

Printed material (handouts) will be provided.

The course is addressed to Physiotherapists and other Health Professors.

Course language will be English with simultaneous translation to Greek.

 Aims of the course:

1) to understand the lungmechanics in healthy.

2) to know the changes in lung physiology and lung mechanics related to lung pathology.

3) to understand how to interpret lungfunction test.

4) to know how to evaluate a lung patient before, during and after airway clearance.techniques (inspection, hyperinflation, lung auscultation, pulse oximetry, dyspnea).

5) to know all the available airway clearance techniques and to know how to individualize chest physiotherapy.

6) to develop and to practice the specific skills under supervision of the instructor.

7)to understand the differences in lung physiology and mechanics between children and adults and to know how to adapt airway clearance techniques to the age of the patient.

Filip Pyl PT,  MSc

Filip Pyl is a specialised physiotherapist in internal disorders. He completed his Master degree in  2006  at the University of Ghent (department of movement and rehabilitation) . The first year of his career he had the chance to gain professional experience at an unique institute for people with cystic fibrosis and obesity. (Zeepreventorium De Haan). Between 2008 and 2012 he worked in the adult cystic fibrosis center of Antwerp. Since 2012 he is a team member of the cystic fibrosis center at the University hospital of Ghent. There he has the chance to write abstracts, accepted by the European CF society, about exercise capacity, physical activity and muscle force in adults with cystic fibrosis. In 2016 and 2017, he was a tutor in cardio and respiratory physiotherapy at the  University of Ghent. In 2008 he started his own private practice and since few years he is the owner of a group practice for general physiotherapy, revalidation and respiratory physiotherapy.
