The course lasts 6 days and will take place:

LLLC1 “epimorfosis” keeps the right to change the seminar venue and the Lecturers depending on their availability.

Number of Participants: The number of participants will not exceed 26 people. If stakeholders are more than 26 will be kept waiting list based on the date of the closing of participation (date of down payment).

At the end of the seminar, a certificate of attendance or competence will be issued.

Printed material (handouts) will be provided.

The course addressed in physical therapists, doctors and other Health Professionals (Graduated from TEI).

Course language will be English with simultaneous translation to Greek.

The Method

The program of this course is exactly the same with the Foundation course which is accredited by AACP.

The course covers acupuncture anatomy including meridian pathways and point location in detail. Clinical protocols are given and a problem solving approach to point prescription is used.

At the end of the course participants will be confident at using acupuncture alongside standard physiotherapy techniques within an outpatient setting. The course is assessed a number of methods including case presentations and practical needling demonstrations.

The course is a mixture of practical and lectures.

Meridian pathways / what is an acupuncture point / basic point identification / safe needling / dangers and contraindications / introduction to TCM / pain mechanisms / point needling / point combination / treatment protocols / short answer test paper / Chinese body measurement / extensive practice

Aims:

  • Introduction to the application of acupuncture as treatment of pain.
  • To research the pain-theory in the management of musculoskeletal disorders.
  • To provide evidence based treatment using Acupuncture in Physiotherapy.
  • To introduce the theory and the application of acupuncture in Trigger points,
  • To provide to the participants new skills and techniques as treatment.
  • At the end of the course participants will have:
  • Knowledge of new theories about pain and acupuncture.
  • Knowledge of meridians and acupuncture points.
  • Knowledge of safe acupuncture techniques, including hygiene and sterilization.
  • Knowledge of the contraindications of acupuncture and dangerous areas of the body.
  • Ability to make a treatment plan where acupuncture is indicated for pain relief.
  • Ability to choose acupuncture as treatment, in usual musculoskeletal disorders, using the proper acupuncture points.

Dr Chris Norris (PhD MSc MCSP HPC Registered)

Christopher Norris is a Chartered Physiotherapist who holds a masters degree in Exercises Science. He has post graduate certificates in both orthopaedic medicine and occupational health physiotherapy and an advanced certificate in traditional Chinese Acupuncture. He has over 25 years experience treating soft tissue injuries and specialises in sports injuries and exercise therapy. He is the author of seven books including textbooks on Sports Injuries (Elsevier), Acupuncture (Elsevier) and Back Stability (Human Kinetics). Chris is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and an advanced member and approved tutor for the AACP. He runs private clinics in Manchester and Cheshire, and is an external lecturer at the University of Salford. He runs various courses on back stability, muscle imbalance and acupuncture.
